Avocado Chocolate Mousse with Berry Chia Jam

Avocados make a great base for chocolate mousse as, being so lovely and buttery, they blend into a beautifully smooth mixture, much the same as your standard chocolate mousse. It’s really some sort of nutritional and culinary wonder! It just works, the texture's right, it's nutritious and delicious.

Ingredients

Mousse:

6 avocados
1 cup cocoa powder
3⁄4 cup coconut milk
3⁄4 cup maple syrup
A pinch of salt

 

Chia-jam

2 cups frozen berries
2 Tbsp maple syrup
2 Tbsp chia seeds
Water, if needed

 

Method

Mousse:

  1. Blend ingredients for mousse together in a food processor.
  2. You may need a spatula to scrape down the sides a few times.

 

Chia-jam:

  1. Heat berries with a splash of water until they are soft.
  2. Mash with a potato masher.
  3. Add chia seeds and maple syrup.
  4. Mix and leave to thicken.
  5. Serve mousse with a dollop of chia jam!
