The Hunua Hillbilly is a train run with a difference. It's 60km of good old fashion single trail through absolutely stunning native bush, in the Hunua Ranges and created by the team at Total Sport in memory of Steve Neary.
The Hunua Ranges were Steve's 'backyard', and his favourite place to run. They couldn’t think of a better way to honour his memory than by coming together and testing themselves over the hardest and most beautiful tracks the Hunuas have to offer – and following it up with the kind of old-fashioned fun and camaraderie he loved.
Make no mistake – this event is tough, but in a friendly sort of way... much like their Steve
All trail runners are welcome, whether you knew and loved Steve, or just share his passions for epic trails and kokakos. He’d have loved to meet you and would have welcomed you with open arms – and probably a slice of home-made carrot cake to boot.
What better way to recover and savour the feeling that comes after a big day on the trails than sitting down to a slap-up meal, listening to some great tunes and a drink or two with both old and newly made friends!?
The Hunua Hoedown is an important aspect of this special event. We would love for as many of you as possible to join us for a meal and good time together on Saturday evening. The evening meal is a delicious American style low and slow BBQ.
Camping is available.
NEW DATE STILL TBA.
